A breakup no matter how it happened literally breaks your heart.
Unless you experience it yourself, you will never be able to understand how feelings can generate such sharp and deep physical pain.
And there is the depression that descends upon you as an impenetrable scary black curtain, that shuts offs the world and robs you of all possible joy.
To many, breakup is no less emotionally debilitating than someone dear's death.
You can survive breakup, as you can survive the deep grief of someone's death.
Here are the 7 steps that will motivate you to claim back your life: 1.
Say goodbye - the most important thing to do for the pain to go away is to accept that the breakup is final.
Stop thinking that maybe tomorrow he/ she would change his/ her mind and you would be together again.
Even if he/ she were, you still have to put a stop to your grieving at this moment.
So, tell your ex goodbye and remove ceremoniously all the signs he/ she left in your life.
For example, take all his/ her photographs, tear them or put them away in a sealed envelope in the attic.
Give away/ return all gifts or things that remind you of him/ her.
2.
Pay attention to yourself - this is very difficult since you would be well into the grip of depression.
However, you need to force yourself to get out of the bed, take a shower, groom yourself well, dress yourself well and look like a normal human being.
3.
Reach out to friends - talk about the hurt you feel.
Talk.
Talk.
Talk.
But concentrate only on your feelings.
Express them.
Weep - there is no shame in tears whether you are a man or woman.
Weeping is highly therapeutic.
4.
Curse your ex to your heart's content - take out a paper and write everything you would like to hurl at your ex.
Take out all the venom you have in your heart and pour it on that paper.
Do NOT send the paper to your ex.
This exercise is only to allow you to remove all the negative feelings that were stored in your mind and heart.
5.
Take up a pleasurable hobby - this is the best time to start a hobby that makes you happy.
Indulge in yourself freely.
6.
Stay among friends and loved ones - avoid being alone.
Stay always with someone who loves and cares about you.
Keep talking about your feelings until it is easy to breathe again.
7.
Start making new friends - time to move on.
Start dating again.
Your soul mate is out there somewhere, waiting for you.
