Virgo in Tropical Astrology

  Tropical astrology, also known as, western astrology, is based on the seasons. Tropical astrology contains 12 zodiac signs corresponding to 12 constellations which the sun, moon and planets move through in the sky. Western astrology begins the zodiac with Aries and the vernal, (spring), equinox, which is the first day of the sign. People born from August 23 to September 22 are Virgo.
  
  

Virgo in Sidereal Astrology

  Sidereal astrology, or Hindu astrology, is based on marker stars and the physical characteristics of the zodiac constellations. It is similar to tropical astrology as it contains 12 signs, beginning with Aries that correspond with 12 constellations. The difference between them is 24 degrees, therefore, the dates of Virgo are September 16 to October 15.
  
  

Virgo and the 13th Sign.

  In the beginning of 2011, a 13th zodiac sign made headlines. Called Ophuchicus, this sign has been around since roughly 130 B.C., however, was excluded from the zodiac. With the inclusion of Ophuchicus, Virgo begins on September 16 and ends on October 30.
