A washing machine is essential in our daily lives since this saves us the trouble of manually washing our clothes.
The top load washers usually cost around 200-800 dollars while the front loaders cost around 500-1500 dollars.
The price is definitely no joke so you should take care of your washer and prolong its life.
The most common problems experienced by people with their washers is a leaky water hose, failure in spinning, failure in draining and programmable errors.
These can actually be prevented if you know how to take of your washer.
Here are some tips you need to consider when looking to lengthen the functions of your washing machine: Tip 1: Remove detachable parts of your laundry.
If you are washing pillow cases or stuffed toys, make sure the buttons are properly attached and it is less likely to come off when the washer takes a spin.
These tiny things can come off and fall into the motor which will then impair its ability to spin.
It can also clog the drainage system resulting to the failure in purging out water.
Tip 2: Use only high efficiency detergent if you are using a high efficiency washer.
If you are using a regular top loader, something you have purchase five years ago, a regular detergent is alright.
But if you are using high efficiency front loaders or top loaders, it is imperative that you buy an ideal detergent which is the HE detergent.
Since this type of washer can readily dissolve detergent powder, you need to use one that will not create too much suds.
If you do it differently, it will confuse the programmable functions of the washer.
When this happens, the warranty claim of the machine is rendered void.
Tip 3: Clean your machine once or twice every month.
Even if you do not smell something rank in the washer's tub, you should try to spruce its functions up by dissolving any lime deposits inside the machine.
Usually, the lime deposits cause build up and will then prevent an efficient draining of water.
You can try adding one cup of white vinegar to an empty hot water cycle.
This should dissolve the lime deposits and also mold formation.
Tip 4: Segregate your laundry and do not fill its capacity up to the brim.
Before washing, separate the colored ones from the white ones and do batches of washing.
Stuffing it all in can damage the clothes and the machine.
Also, if it does not have enough room to move, it cannot clean clothes completely and cannot dry them up completely.
Undissolved detergent is also left behind.
