Cost–Different locksmiths will charge you different rates for their services depending on the type of work they do, how they do it and the tools and locks they use to do it. Nationwide locksmiths tend to have higher prices with the main reason being that they have to offer the same products and services nationwide at the same standard rates for everybody. If you want to find the most affordable rates, the local locksmith will be your best bet.

Reputation easily verified – Knowing the reputation of somebody that you are about to pay for their services is always an important part of any transaction.  You need a locksmith with a good reputation. When you are dealing with a nationwide locksmith, being sure of their reputation is not that easy. With a local locksmith, you can simply ask him for a list of clients that he has serviced and call them up. The reputation a nationwide firm has may be different from one state to the next.
