How to Wire Power Cords

    • 1). Cut the 16/3-gauge stranded copper wire to the length you need for the power cord with the wire cutters.

    • 2). Strip 1/4 inch of insulation off the ends of all three of the wires on each end of the cord with the wire strippers.

    • 3). Back the terminal screws off for the female 15-amp grounded connector. Slide the black wire under the hot connection (+), the white wire under the neutral terminal (-) and the green wire under the ground connection. Tighten the terminal screws back down.

    • 4). Back the terminal screws off for the male 15-amp grounded connector. On the other end of the wire, slide the black wire under the hot connection (+), the white wire under the neutral terminal (-) and the green wire under the ground connection. Tighten the terminal screws back down.
