- 1). Locate the electrical breaker box and turn off the breaker switch to your dishwasher before attempting to replace the motor.
- 2). Remove the kick plate by using a screwdriver to unfasten the screws and take the plate away from the dishwasher.
- 3). Find the motor behind the kick plate and open the dishwasher door, lifting the lower dish rack out of the dishwasher.
- 4). Locate the bolt on the top of the spray tower and remove it with a socket wrench, lifting the spray tower and spray arms out of the dishwasher.
- 5). Find the two lead wires that are attached to the wiring harness by wire connectors and turn the connectors to detach the wires from the harness.
- 6). Remove the drain hose from the water pump, using a screwdriver to unfasten the screw clamp, and take the hose off of the pump.
- 7). Detach the motor belt from the water pump by using a socket wrench to loosen the bolts on the motor, lifting the motor out of the dishwasher.
- 8). Place the new motor into the base of the dishwasher.
- 9). Attach the belt to the water pump and motor, securing the motor with the bolts, and connect the drain hose to the water pump, sliding the screw clamp over the hose and tightening it with the screwdriver.

Reconnect the lead wires to the wire harness, twisting the wires together with the electrical connectors, and put the spray arms and spray tower back together, fastening them with a bolt. - 11
Place the dish rack back into the dishwasher and secure the base plate to the bottom of the appliance with screws. - 12
Flip the breaker switch to the KitchenAid dishwasher back on to restore the power to the appliance.
