- 1). Stack the TiVo and receiver box on top of each other. It does not matter which box is on top of the other.
- 2). Screw the coaxial cable from the wall into the "In" connector on the splitter. Run coaxial cable from the splitter's "Out" jacks to the RF connector jacks on the TiVo and the cable receiver.
- 3). Connect the TiVo to your receiver using composite audio-visual cables and TiVo's IR Control Cable. Run the red, white and yellow composite cables from the receiver's Audio-Visual Output jacks to the TiVo's Audio-Visual Input jacks.
- 4). Attach the IR Control Cable's prongs to the receiver. The prongs should protrude 1 1/2 inches from the receiver and should align on top and below the receiver's sensor. Connect the IR cable to the TiVo's Serial Port and the receiver's nine-pin jack.
- 5). Link the TiVo to your television set by running composite cables from the TiVo's Audio-Visual Output jacks to the television's Audio-Visual Input jacks.
- 6). Plug in the TiVo's Wireless Adapter via a USB port on the back of the TiVo. Alternatively, you can plug the TiVo into your phone line via a phone jack, though TiVo recommends Internet access.
- 7). Provide power to the TiVo by plugging in the AC power cord to the TiVo and the wall outlet. Also make sure that the receiver box is connected to the wall outlet.
- 8). Turn on the television set and set it to channel 3 or 4. One of these two channels will display the TiVo Welcome Screen.
