- 1). Slide the battery cover on the back of the LG Cookie toward the bottom of the phone and lift it off to access the battery compartment.
- 2). Insert the SIM card into the SIM card slot, which is located near the top of the battery compartment. Slide the card into the slot with the contacts facing down.
- 3). Slide the battery into the battery compartment so the contacts on the battery are touching the terminals at the top of the battery compartment.
- 4). Place the top of the battery cover over the bottom of the phone and slide the cover toward the top of the phone until you hear it click into place.
- 5). Pull the "MicroSD" cover off the microSD card slot on the right side of the phone and slide the microSD card into the slot until it clicks into place. The contacts should face the front of the phone.
- 1). Pull the charging jack cover off the charging jack on the left side of the phone and insert the mini-USB end of the power cable into the charging jack.
- 2). Plug the other end of the power cable into an electrical outlet and allow the phone to charge until "Battery Full" appears on the screen. Remove the power cable from the phone when the battery is fully charged.
- 3). Press and hold the "End/Power" button to turn the phone on or off. The "Power/End" button is located on the front of the phone and has a telephone handset symbol on it over a circle with a line in it. It is the rightmost button in the row of buttons below the screen.
- 1). Press and release the "Power/End" button to open the phone's standby screen.
- 2). Tap the "Phone" icon on the screen, which is the green icon with the white phone handset and three circles on it, to open the phone's onscreen keypad. Enter the number of the person you want to call using the onscreen keypad and then press the "Call" button to dial the number. The "Call" button has a phone handset on it and is the leftmost button in the row of buttons below the screen.
- 3). Touch the "Address Book" icon on the screen, which is the orange icon with the white phone handset on it, to make a phone call based on your stored contacts. Type the first couple of letters of the name of the person you want to call to filter your contacts and then tap the name of your contact. Touch the number you want to call, if you have more than one number stored for the contact, and then tap the "Phone handset" icon on the screen to make the call.
- 4). Press the "Call" button to answer an incoming call or the "Power/End" button to reject an incoming call.
- 1). Press the "Power/End" button to open the standby screen and then tap the "Messaging" icon on the screen. The "Messaging" icon is a white and yellow envelope.
- 2). Tap "T(1)" to enter the number of the text message recipient, or touch "Search" to locate a stored contact. Type the first few letters of the name of the contact to filter your contacts list and then touch the name of the contact to whom you want to send the text message. Tap the number of the contact you want to use if you have more than one number stored for that contact.
- 3). Touch the text entry part of the screen and enter your text message using the onscreen keyboard.
- 4). Tap "Send" to send the text message.
