Food or some drinks that produce a sensation that resembles anxiety or panic could potentially trigger a panic attack because people with panic disorder are often misinterpreting bodily cues and hypersensitive to the sensations associated with panic problems.
If you have a sensitivity to a particular type of food, eating it can increase your likelihood of having a panic attack.
There are a few types of foods that can trigger panic attacks but in particular there are three chief ones that can affect your ability to keep that panic in check.
The top three anxiety producing foods are sugar, alcohol and caffeine.
These three foods do not cause the panic attack directly, but they can increase your general state of anxiety which can compound the problem.
Sugar Many people today use sugar as their emergency pick me up food.
However, too much sugar can cause lactic acid to build up in your bloodstream.
High levels of this can bring on a panicky state of mind.
Not only this, but it can lead to emotional swings and increase the odds of having a panic attack.
In some cases, it can even induce an attack.
If you have a tendency to suffer form panic and anxiety attacks, it is a good idea to go on a low GI or low sugar diet.
Alcohol People also tends to think that alcohol will calm them down, but it is actually both a stimulant and an exaggerant of your sensation and mode.
Whatever your state of mind, alcohol will help you get there bigger and faster.
Drinking alcohol also increases the lactic acid in your body, and causes your blood sugar levels to exaggerate.
Caffeine Also people drink coffee, sodas, and tea in order to help them stay awake.
However, experts have discovered and confirmed that caffeine as a stimulant will interfere with the natural tranquillizers in the brain.
Caffeine also raises our lactate levels and this is a known factor in producing a panic attack.
So if a food makes you feel like having panic disorders that may raise your anxiety to very high levels.
Whether this will actually trigger panic attacks is hard to say but you are likely to feel very uncomfortable and scared.
In addition to the foods that are listed above, you might find connections between other things you eat and your level of panic.
It can be helpful to keep track of what you eat during the day as well as when you specifically get anxiety attacks.
These are things you can use to help you find your panic attack cure.
