- 1). Place the lamp on a flat, stable surface away from heat.
- 2). Remove the open shade and the snuffer cap.
- 3). Place the funnel in the opening of the lamp. Fill the Lampe Berger with no more than 2/3 of fuel. Wipe away any spills on the outside of the lamp.
- 4). Place the wick into the neck of the lamp. Ensure the stone burner is resting firmly on the opening of the lamp.
- 5). Place the snuffer cap over the burner. Allow the wick to soak for a minimum of 20 minutes.
- 6). Use a lighter or match to light the burner. Allow the flame to burn for two minutes. Blow out the flame.
- 7). Place the open shade over the burner. The shade acts as a shield around the hot stone.
- 8). Operate the lamp for 25 minutes in a 200-square-foot room or 45 minutes in a 300-square-foot room.
- 9). Remove the open shade carefully and place the snuffer cap on top of the stone. This process will extinguish the Lampe Berger. Replace the open shade.
