- 1). Download and install video conversion software. There are many free options available to accomplish this task. (See Resources for a download link to one such option, HandBrake.)
- 2). Launch the video conversion application.
- 3). Navigate to and select the file that you would like to convert to the PSP format.
- 4). Configure the output file format to produce the desired video type. Many video conversion programs will have a PSP preset. In case your chosen program does not, the correct format is "MPEG-4, H.264."
- 5). Select a location on your computer for the converted file.
- 6). Begin the conversion process. The method for doing this will vary depending on the program but will typically be indicated by a "Start," "Encode" or "Convert" button.
- 1). Connect the PSP to the computer using the USB cable.
- 2). Go to the "Settings" menu on your PSP and navigate to "USB connection." Press "X" to put the PSP in USB mode.
- 3). Open the PSP device folder on your computer.
- 4). Open the "Video" folder. If this folder does not exist, create a new folder called "Video." Leave this window open, as this is where you will be copying your converted video.
- 5). Open another window and navigate to the location of the video file that you converted earlier.
- 6). Copy the converted video file and paste it into the "Video" folder that you left open in Step 4.
- 7). Disconnect the PSP from the computer.
- 8). Turn on your PSP.
- 9). View your video by going to the "Video" menu on your PSP.
