- 1). Cut off the metal hooks from both ends of the bungee cord with the blade of the utility knife. Dispose of the metal hooks in the trash. Tie a knot in each end of the bungee cord.
- 2). Place the PVC pipe vertically on a table. Measure halfway up the length of the PVC pipe from the bottom. Place the knot of one end of the bungee cord on the side of the PVC pipe at the halfway mark. Tape the knot to the side of the PVC pipe with a strip of duct tape.
- 3). Stretch the other end of the bungee cord around the bottom end of the PVC pipe.
- 4). Place the knot at the end of the bungee cord against the side of the PVC pipe directly across from the other knot. Tape the knot to the side of the PVC pipe with a strip of duct tape.
- 5). Tape the bungee cord onto both sides of the PVC pipe with strips of duct tape. Wrap duct tape around the PVC pipe so that all of the bungee cord is now covered.
- 6). Sharpen one end of the wooden dowel into a point with the blade of the utility knife. Cut a notch in the other end with the blade of the utility knife.
- 7). Go outdoors in your backyard. Hold your DIY spear gun at the middle with one hand.
- 8). Place the notch in the end of the wooden dowel over the bungee cord. Grab hold of both the bungee cord and the wooden dowel with the fingers of your free hand.
- 9). Pull back on both the bungee cord and the wooden dowel. Aim at a tree or rock. Release your fingers to fire the “spear” from your DIY spear gun at the tree or rock.
