- 1). Clean the glass with glass cleaner and wipe it dry with the paper towels. Grit on the glass has a negative effect when trying to cut it.
- 2). Mark the glass with the glass marking pen where you want to cut it, using the pattern or ruler and straightedge.
- 3). Put on the safety glasses.
- 4). Grip the glass cutter comfortably and firmly. Dip the cutter in the oil and roll it along the pattern from one edge of the piece of glass to another edge, only once and in one direction. Use the straightedge if scoring a straight line, but be careful not to let it slip. The cutting wheel makes a slight crackling, zipping noise as it scores the glass. Do not press too hard or the glass can break.
- 5). Grip the piece of glass with your fingers or the glass pliers on either side of the score line with the score line facing up. Twist in opposite directions away from the score line and down.
- 6). Grind the edges of the glass with the glass grinder, carborundum stone or silicon carbide sandpaper to smooth them.
