- 1). Ensure that the printer cables connected to the computer are properly attached. Also ensure that the printer's driver is already installed to the computer. Click "Start," "Printers and Faxes." Check if "HP 2200D" is in the list of printers. If it is not in the list, the printer is failing to communicate with the computer because the driver is not installed. Place the installation CD inside the optical drive of your computer and follow the onscreen instructions of the printer driver until it is successfully installed.
- 2). Open the top cover of the printer to clear a paper jam problem. Carefully pull out the toner cartridge from the printer. Lift up the registration plate and pull the paper out. Cover the toner cartridge with cloth to ensure that it is not exposed to light for a long period of time.
- 3). Slide out tray 2 or tray 3 and carefully remove any misfed paper. Also open the rear output bin. Use both hands to remove the jammed paper. When you are sure that no jammed paper is left in the printer, put the toner cartridge back to its slot until it clicks into place, and then close the printer cover.
- 4). Configure the printer for special media or paper. When printing on special media, the fuser may get too hot and the printing process may slow down. Click "Start," and then "Printers and Faxes." Right-click on the "Laserjet 2200D" icon and then click "Properties." Click on the "Paper" tab, and then "Optimize For." Select the media/paper type that you are using, click "Apply," "OK."
- 5). Print a configuration/self-test report if your HP 2200D is printing garbled or distorted text. Press the "Go" and "Job Cancel" buttons at the same time. Wait for the device to print the configuration report. If the printer does not print or the printout is still distorted, bring it to the nearest HP service center. Note that if the device is printing distorted text, the problem may lie with the file being printed. Print another document. If the printout is fine, the problem is with the file being printed and not the printer.
