Frigidaire Washer Troubleshooting Guide

    Not Starting

    • If your Frigidaire washing machine does not start, ensure that your power cord is securely plugged into the wall. Your washing machine will not start with a loose plug. Also see that the cycle selector is in the right position. If not, move it clockwise to start the cycle. Also ensure that you have not blown a fuse or tripped the circuit breaker. Replace any blown fuses, or reset your circuit breaker. You must also fully turn on your water supply faucets.

    Noises

    • Your washing machine is supposed to make a certain amount of noise, and clunking is one of those normal sounds. If you hear thumbing, clanking or squealing, you may have a problem. Thumping is often heard if you are washing a heavy load. It's normal unless it happens when you are washing a light load. If that is the case, stop the washing machine, and more evenly distribute your clothes. Clanking noises indicate that you may have foreign objects in your washing machine. Turn off your washing machine, and look for objects within the tub. If you hear a squealing sound, your washer has too many clothes in it. Remove some clothing, and turn it back on.

    Water

    • If you are not getting enough water to clean your clothing, ensure that your water supply faucets are open and that your water is not cut off. Call your water supply company and ask. Do not run water in other areas of your home when using your washing machine as doing so can decrease the amount of water in the house. Your Frigidaire washing machine needs at least 30 pounds per square inch (psi) of water to operate. Also check your hoses for any splits or kinks. If kinked, straighten them. If split, replace the hoses. A broken hose can also cause water leaks.

    Additional Issues

    • If you have residue leftover from a wash cycle, you probably washed extremely dirty items. Use nonabrasive cleaners to remove the residue from your washing machine. If necessary, run the washing machine without anything in it to remove built-up residue. Your washer will not start the spin cycle unless the lid is closed. Completely close the lid to start this cycle. If water does not drain from your washing machine, ensure that your hoses are not clogged or bent. Too wet clothes indicate that the water is not draining properly or that your washer was overloaded. Fix any bent hoses, and never overload your washing machine.
