- 1). Open the Toshiba Satellite's DVD drive and remove the disc from its tray. Check the surface of the disk for any scratches, scuff marks or dirt.
- 2). Look at the DVD tray to confirm the drive is clean of debris and dust. Blow on the DVD tray to remove any particles that could be interfering with the Toshiba P35-S6112's optical laser.
- 3). Reinsert the disc into the drive label-side up. Place your thumb and index finger on either side of the disc, and very gently pull up on the disc. The disc should remain firmly in the disc drive.
- 4). Slide the DVD tray closed until you hear a "click."
- 1). Go to Microsoft Support (see the Resources). Choose "Run now" from the box labeled "Microsoft Automated Troubleshooting Services."
- 2). Save the file to your desktop. Double-click the file to launch the application.
- 3). Read the Microsoft License Agreement, and then click "Accept" to confirm. The application will search your Toshiba Satellite P35-S6112 for, and attempt to fix, any problems related to your DVD drive.
- 1). Log in to Windows XP as an administrator. Click "Start." Click "My Computer." Locate your DVD drive.
- 2). Right-click the DVD drive, and then select "Properties" from the contextual menu. Select the "Recording" tab.
- 3). Check "Enable CD recording on this drive." Change the speed setting to a slower speed. Cheaper DVD brands may cause write errors if the DVD burn speed is too fast.
