Beach lovers can also take a pick from many beaches in Puerto Escondido excluding the Playa Zicatel which has strong rip tides and the worlds most powerful waves that are even stronger than the famous Hawaii Banzai Pipeline. The Point is another popular surfing area with a rapid and tough surf ride. While Playa Zicatela is the break closest to town, there is the other end of the beach break called the Far Bar which offers the heaviest surfing as the water is deeper and the break is further from the shore.
