- 1). Find the perfect gift-wrapping paper. When looking for gift wrap, you may want to keep your mother's favorite color in mind, or her favorite holiday words that are often printed on gift-wrapping paper. This will show your mother that you put thought not only into her present, but also into the way you wrapped the gift.
- 2). Find an appropriate work place for you to wrap the gift. You want to ensure you have enough room to lay the present out and unroll the wrapping paper. Gather your scissors, tape and ruler so you can measure the wrapping paper.
- 3). Prepare to wrap the gift. You need to roll out the wrapping paper in your work station and lay your gift upon it. This allows you to measure the wrapping paper needed to cover your gift. You will want to ensure you have enough wrapping paper to cover all sides, so leave a few inches to the wrapping paper when you cut it.
- 4). Cut the wrapping paper to the right size. Lay the gift face down on the wrapping paper. On the long sides of the gift, bring the wrapping paper from the bottom to the top and secure with tape. You will have to close the ends of the gift, so move the present so that one of the open ends is toward you. Fold the sides into a flap and pull tightly toward the box and secure with tape. Repeat on the other open side of the gift.
- 5). Top off the gift with an elegant bow. If you can find a bow that matches your gift wrap, that is perfect. If not, visit a craft store and pick out a ribbon that matches the gift wrap to tie a bow yourself.
- 6). Write a message on the gift tag. The gift tag may be the first thing your mom looks at, so what you put on there is important. If the gift is symbolic, let her know. Most importantly, you can tell your mother how important she is in your life and how much you love her.
