- 1). Cut two different colored strands of plastic lace measuring 36 inches each with the scissors. Fold both strands evenly in half and slide the key ring or lanyard clip to the middle of the strands.
- 2). Hold the two strands in your hand in an "X" shape with one color overlapping the other. Take the color that's on the bottom of the overlap and create two loops by pulling each end of the strand in opposite directions over the top strand of the "X." You now have two parallel loops.
- 3). Take one strand of the second color and loop it over one of the first loops and under the second. Pull the other end of the second color strand over the nearest loop and under the second going in the opposite direction. This create a square shaped weave. Pull all four strands to tighten the stitch.
- 4). Make two parallel loops again with the first color by pulling each of the ends over the project in opposite directions, as you did to create the first stitch. Pull one end of the second colored strand over the nearest loop and under the second. Do the same with the other end of the strand. Pull all four strands tightly to finish the second stitch. You can see the colors in the weave alternating with each stitch.
- 5). Keep creating the loops and weaving the second strands into the loops until you reach the desired length of your lanyard. Leave no less than 3 inches of strand so you can finish your project.
- 6). Create the last stitch the same way by weaving the second strands into the parallel loops but leave them loose. Take one strand and pull it around to the nearest loop on the left and insert it from the outside, pulling the strand out through the middle of the lanyard. Do this with the other three strands, inserting them into their nearest loop on the left and out the middle. Pull all the strands tightly downward through the middle to secure the end of your project. If you weaved all of the plastic lanyard strands to the ends, it will be about 2 or 3 inches in length. Trim the ends if needed.
