- The Chevrolet Avalanche is a sports-utility truck that was introduced by General Motors in 2002 and is in its second generation as of 2011 models. The 2004 model was part of the first generation --- produced until 2006. It was available with a 5.3-liter or 8.1-liter engine and came as either four-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive.
