How to Program a Car Radio in a '94 Ford Taurus

    • 1). Put the key in the ignition, and either start the Taurus or turn the key to the auxiliary-power position. It's not advisable to sit in the car with the radio on for long periods without starting the engine.

    • 2). Select the AM or FM band by pushing the proper button.

    • 3). Tune to a desired station by pushing one of the directional buttons alongside the "Tune," "Seek" or "Scan" buttons. The "Tune" button moves the frequency along incrementally, one tenth at a time. The "Seek" will automatically move in the direction you selected until it hits a strong signal, at which point it will stop. The "Scan" will move in the desired direction and stop, just like the "Seek" feature, but it will continue to move through the frequencies after halting on a strong signal for 5 seconds.

    • 4). Press the desired number button for radio presets, and hold it down until the radio sounds cuts out and then back in. Once the sound cuts back in, that button holds the preset for the station you are receiving. Since there are six numbered buttons, you can continue to program up to five more by repeating Steps 3 and 4.

    • 5). Switch to the opposite band from the one you chose in Step 2, and repeat Steps 3 and 4 until you have programmed as many stations as you desire, up to six per band.
