- 1). Decide where you want your dirt ramps to be. The area should be open, without dangerous inhabitants like trees, shrubs or large rocks.
- 2). Plan your jumps. When you build your dirt ramps, you want to be sure that you keep in mind what type of track you want. Do you want one or two ramps? Or would you like more? And at what distance?
- 3). Begin gathering dirt from a selected area. This should be out of the area of the track, because large holes are a hazard to riding. Fill your wheelbarrow with as much dirt as you can support, and role it to your desired spot.
- 4). Dump the dirt, and begin to mold your jump. Gather more if necessary.
- 5). Pack the dirt firmly. Unpacked, or loose dirt can be a hazard for a jump. Use your shovel to pat the dirt down firmly, and also be sure to remove any large stones that may accompany the dirt. You can also use your feet and your hands to pack the dirt tightly.
- 6). Wet the dirt ramp down with the spray of a hose, or bucket of water. This will keep the dirt compact! You want the dirt to be as firm as possible.
- 7). Pack the dirt a bit more, and continue onto the next ramp using the same method.
