- In 2005, Chevrolet equipped both trim levels of the Equinox with a five-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. Buyers could purchase either trim level in front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive variants. These SUVs stood 69.3 inches in height and had an 8-inch ground clearance. Front-wheel drive models weighed 3,660 pounds, to the 3,776-pound weight of the all-wheel drive models. Chevrolet outfitted all four wheels with size 235/65R16 tires. All models sat five and provided a minimum 35.2 cubic feet of cargo space, with a maximum cargo volume of 69 cubic feet.
- Chevy equipped all models of the 2005 Equinox with ABS and dual front air bags, with side-curtain airbags offered as an option. Other safety features included Chevy's "PASSLock" engine immobilization system and a security system with panic alarm. Standard features on all models included air conditioning, remote keyless entry, power steering and brakes, power windows and doors, front bucket seats and an AM/FM stereo CD player.
