- 1). Place any cats or dogs in another room and close the door as soon as you notice the bat. It is not safe to leave your companion animal around while removing the bat. Small children should also go to another area of the house behind a closed door.
- 2). Open a door or window to let the bat fly out. This is the most ideal method of removal. However, if the bat lands somewhere and doesn't leave, you will have to employ another method.
- 3). Wear gloves at all times if you're going to be handling the bat in any way. Do not touch the bat with bare skin.
- 4). Place a blanket over the bat if it's on the floor or a piece of furniture. You can then roll up the bat gently inside the blanket, being careful not to injure it. The bat may make a loud sound as you pick it up and carry it outdoors. Do not unroll the blanket until you're in an open area.
- 5). Trap the bat inside a net or glass jar if it's hanging somewhere. A bat may hang behind curtains, on clothes or in plants. Place the net or jar carefully over the bat and slowly close the net or lid. Once the bat is trapped, release the bat outside.
