Verily I say unto you, wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her (Matthew 26:13).
The woman who poured the expensive perfume on Jesus probably did not know that thousands of years later, she would still be a reference point.
Now, every time the gospel is preached, that woman's name is mentioned.
Opportunities do not always repeat themselves and that is why you have to be alert and do things right first time.
You just never know how far what you have done, or been asked to do will go; you just might be making history.
The Bible contains accounts of people who did their best for God, not knowing they are making history and would become reference points in the kingdom.
When a man called Joses sold his land and brought the money to the apostles (Acts 4:36-37), he did it with all his heart, not knowing the impact of what he was doing.
The quality of what he gave touched the apostles so much that they gave him the name "Barnabas" (son of consolation), and he thus became a reference point for the body of Christ and a mighty apostle himself.
When the great apostle Paul himself penned the epistles, he probably thought he was just writing letters to his churches.
He wrote what God ask him to write as best as he could, with the Holy Spirit working in him.
Today, his writings form more than half of the New Testament.
Whenever opportunities show up for you to do something for the lord, do it the best way you can the first time.
Every such opportunity is a chance for you to make history.
The apostles and great men of old are still watching us from heaven, naming us and commending us for what we do.
Let your name be engraved in God's annals as a man or woman who made history in the Church, for the right reasons.
