Regenerating Aging Skin

Have you ever touched the perfect, beautiful skin of a newborn? It is extraordinary to experience something so perfect and blemish free. As we get older our skin gets put through so many environmental factors and stress, causing our skin to lose that original perfect softness that we all started out with. Fortunately, our skin has a wonderful system to replenish itself and help itself from wearing out too fast. When we are children, about every 2-3 weeks, our skin is completely replenished. The surface layers are shed, leaving the unexposed lower layer, which rises to the surface, stays for a couple of weeks, and then the same process begins again Knowing this, it makes more sense how children can be exposed to the elements a lot more often than adults, yet still not lose their soft, perfect skin. Most of them don't use nearly as much moisturizer as adults do, and don't really care much about taking care of their skin, yet their skin does a fantastic job of protecting them.

If our skin was made to renew itself so frequently, what happens to it as we become adults? Have you ever noticed the difference between your grandfather's skin and a little child's skin? Generally, a senior citizen's skin has the tendency to be a lot thicker, rougher, and filled with age spots and wrinkles. Why does our skin get like this?

As we age, the rate at which our skin renews itself starts to slow down. Instead of shedding the worn out skin cells, they start building up on the surface of the skin, causing the layers to get thicker and rougher. Instead of shedding age spots, they just remain. To make matters worse, we lose approximately 10% of our epidermal cells per decade, reducing our ability to make more healthy layers of skin. In addition, often, not as much moisture gets to the top layer of the skin, bringing about the wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin we see in our beloved grandparents and older individuals.

Wouldn't you love it if we could go back to that same great system of skin rejuvenation we had when we were children? I bet that we all have that same goal, but the question is, is that possible? If the problem is that our skin is piling up dead skin cells, the only logical way to this problem is to help the skin to shed these unnecessary cells and uncover the soft layer below. This way, we can also help more moisture to get to the top layer of the skin, reducing fine lines and wrinkles.

Turning the Tide of Aging Skin

A great way to help our skin renew itself is by applying organic skin creams which speed skin cell renewal and help get rid of the dead skin cells which are covering the pores in your skin. Choose carefully, however, because some products only take away the dead cells (such as exfoliation creams), and don't help your body to produce fresh, new cells. One thing to look for is that the face cream is 100% natural, and doesn't include harsh chemicals. If you are serious about your skin and take these suggestions to heart, you can rest assured that your skin will look younger and softer than ever in no time!
