How to Install Frame Sliders on a 1999 R6

    • 1). Look between the side fairing panels and the motorcycle frame to find the motor mount tab, which extends down from the frame over the motor. Take a mental note of the motor mount's location in relation to the side fairing panels.

    • 2). Use a 4 mm Allen wrench to remove the bolts securing the side fairing panels to the motorcycle. Remove the side fairing panels.

    • 3). Stick a large piece of modeling clay onto the inside of the side fairing panels, placing it at the area adjacent to the motor mount.

    • 4). Use a 14 mm socket and a socket wrench to unscrew the right motor mount bolt until it protrudes at least 1 inch from the frame.

    • 5). Hold the right-side fairing panel against the motorcycle, placing it in its fully mounted position. Press the modeling clay onto the protruding motor mount bolt to create an impression in the clay. Remove the right-side fairing panel.

    • 6). Use an electric drill and a 1/8" bit to drill a pilot hole through the center of the bolt's impression left in the clay. Remove the clay from the right-side fairing panel.

    • 7). Hold the right-side fairing panel against the motorcycle again. Check the pilot hole's position against the position of the motor mount bolt. Drill another pilot hole, if needed.

    • 8). Place a 1 7/8" hole saw into the electric drill. Cut a hole into the right-side fairing, using the pilot hole as a guide. Sand the edges of the hole lightly with 220-grit sandpaper to smooth any rough edges.

    • 9). Use a 14 mm socket and a socket wrench to remove the motor mount bolt from the frame. Slide the extended bolt provided with the frame slider kit into the frame slide base. Screw the new bolt into the motor mount, using a 14 mm socket.

    • 10

Use an 8 mm Allen wrench to screw the frame slider puck onto the frame slider base.
