• Situated in northern Colorado, Winter Park Resort is situated in the town of Winter Park, and it has been featured in nationwide publications such as USA Today, as well as Ski Magazine and Forbes magazine. This ski resort offers 143 snowboarding and skiing trails, and 25 lifts for transportation up the mountains. As of 2010, the hours of operation at Winter Park during the ski season are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The ski season typically lasts from November through April, depending on the amount of snowfall. Telluride Ski Resort

• The Telluride Ski Resort in Southwest Colorado is in the San Juan National Forest area, and it has been featured in publications such as the Conde Nast and On the Snow travel guides. For the 2008-2009 ski season, Telluride was in Ski Magazine's "Reader Survey's Top 10" of places to go. Skiers and snowboarders have access to 120 runs throughout the resort, and the resort also provides 18 lifts for transportation to those runs. The ski season typically lasts from November through April. The hours of operation during the season, as of 2010, are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cross-country skiing trails are available as well.

Aspen Snowmass Resort

• The Aspen Snowmass Resort in Aspen consists of four mountains that with ski and snowboarding slopes: Snowmass, Buttermilk, Aspen Mountain and Aspen Highlands. Some of the awards and recognition this resort have received include Plenty Magazine's "Top Eco-Friendly Resort" in 2004, as well as being listed on Forbes magazine's "The 10 Best Ski Resorts in the World" listing in 2003. The ski season at this resort usually runs from November through April. The combined amount of skiing and snowboarding slopes on all four mountains totals up to 329, while 42 lifts are available for transportation.

Vail Cascade Resort

• The Vail Cascade Resort in the Central Colorado town of Vail has been given a four-diamond award by AAA, and it has been rated by Conde Nast Travel Guide as the fourth-best ski resort in North America in 2010. The resort has also been featured in USA Today and Forbes magazine. The ski resort has four on-site terrain parks that offer chances for half-pipe activities. Skiers and snowboarders can take advantage of the 33 lifts that transports them to the 193 trails throughout the park. The ski season usually lasts from November to April, and the hours of operation during this time is 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., as of 2010.
