How to Stop Panic Attacks - A Simple Approach

Panic attacks suck.
You know it and so do I.
They can rob you of living your best life, a life of freedom and happiness.
Many people believe that people that have panic attacks should "just get over them" and move on.
If only it were that easy to stop a panic.
Panic attacks can come on suddenly in all sorts of situations.
They can come on during times of severe stress, when boarding a plan, when one is about to give a speech, to even being in public.
The panic attack symptoms include sweating, a "racing" mind, a feeling of doom, and even the feeling of having to faint or weakness.
The key step to learning how to stop a panic is to UNDERSTAND a panic attack first.
What is it? It is simply your body turning on the "fight or flight response" in your body.
This means, your body feels like it is under a threat and it reacts physically to it.
Adrenaline gets pumped throughout.
Your heart races to increase blood flow.
Your body is in a heightened state to either "fight" the threat or "flee" the threat.
Even though it may feel awful, it is harmless.
No one has died from having an attack.
It may feel like you could die, but in reality, you will not.
It is actually a very normal response in which your body is simply over-reacting, nothing more.
Your body is simply trying to protect you from being harmed.
But the thing is, it does not know the difference between your REAL situation and your MENTALLY perceived situation.
The key to overcoming the fear of the attack is to fully understand this.
The mind does not know the difference between what you think, and what is real, and so if you think that you are in a stressful or harmful situation, your body will react and protect you.
This is when stress, tension and a panic attack are likely to step in.
To stop a panic attack, you have to learn how to stop the reaction in the body or not feed into it.
So what is a quick and easy way to stop a panic attack? There are several ways, but one of the best ways is to simply ACCEPT the feelings you have and don't resist them.
Ride it out.
Understand the feelings are physical and they will not harm you.
It is just your body trying to protect you.
You can beat and stop a panic attack once you realize, you are in control and the feelings you are having are just your body trying to protect you.
Knowledge is your way out and the more you know about having the attacks and why, the better off you will be when faced with them and the less of threat you will feel when they do occur.
Now is the time to take control of your life and to learn how to start living it again, free of anxiety and panic, and back into a life of happiness and freedom.
