Using a Dummy Security Camera to Scare Off Trespassers

Sometimes, installing the best and most advanced home security devices is not within the means of home owners who may be wishing to implement adequate defense against the external dangers that homes (or even business establishments) are subjected to (e.
g.
burglaries, trespassing, vandalism, etc.
).
The advanced security systems are mostly more expensive to acquire and may also be costly to maintain.
Hence, sometimes, some home owners opt to use alternatives.
One such alternative is the option to use bogus devices that look like the real things with the objective of making burglar or trespassers think that your home is well-defended by top-of-the-line security and alarm devices.
One such contraption is the dummy security camera.
A dummy or fake security camera is a non-functioning dummy replica of a real one.
They are usually used by homes that can't afford to buy a real working unit to deter intruders from carrying out their criminal plans against your home or property.
Some units even have motors that enable them to pan or swivel to make them look more authentic.
Others are designed with matching wiring and cords to make people think that they are connected to a closed circuit monitoring systems like a CCTV camera system.
The disadvantage with using bogus camera units is that it can easily be made by a trained eye and for those who know a bit about security cameras.
Hence, the use of fake security devices should only be temporary and only until you can afford real working ones.
They are also good as supplemental devices to augment the authentic and working units that you may have.
Fake security devices are good temporary alternatives to real and working ones.
They work because they look real and because burglars don't really want to risk getting caught and would usually won't include targets that they think are secured by suitable devices.
Most of the time, when they see video cameras (bogus or not) they will move on to look for easier homes to burglarize or intrude upon.
