How to Write Over the Recycle Bin

    • 1). Go to a website that hosts file-shredding software for download. CNET Downloads, PCWorld and File Shredder are examples of such websites.

    • 2). Download the software to your computer. Double-click the installation file and follow the instructions from the installation wizard. Click "Finish" when the software has installed.

    • 3). Launch the file-shredder program. Navigate to the file you want to write over and right-click on it.

    • 4). Select "Erase" or "Delete" from the pop-up list and click "OK." Repeat the procedure for other files deleted in the Recycle Bin that you want to write over.
