Sound familiar...
your heart is pounding, you can't breathe, you can't think clearly, you are overwhelmed by a sense of impending disaster or even worse, death, you feel dizzy and sick at the same time and feel like you are going crazy! You are not having a heart attack, although you may think you are - you are in the middle of a full blown PANIC ATTACK! Panic attacks are usually abrupt and intense.
They can occur at any time of the day or night, and last from a few seconds to about 30 minutes and rarely more than an hour.
The attacks themselves are very unpredictable and can occur every few weeks or several times a day and can strike 'out-of-the-blue' without any warning.
This sudden overwhelming fear and anxiety can cause you to withdraw from society and normal daily activities as nowhere feels safe as the attacks can happen anywhere and the slightest trigger can bring on another attack.
When this starts to happen and you start to avoid situations 'in case you have another attack', you normally go to your doctor and he in turn will prescribe medication which numbs you to your surroundings.
This is not an ideal situation at all.
The following points are crucial if you are to seriously begin on the road to full recovery and become Panic Attack Free...
• You MUST learn to break the fear of having another panic attack • The anticipation of a panic attack will start the wave of anxiety in motion • The slightest stress trigger will launch the full blown attack into motion • The foundation of a future attack is laid out hours before you actually experience one If you take all the above points into account, when considering a cure for these anxiety attacks, they all point in ONE very simple direction - you need to be able to stop yourself from fearing another panic attack and thereby break the loop of anxiety where you constantly fear having another attack.
