Hi, my name is Mathew Pierce, I'm a software engineer, and today I'm gonna talk a little bit about the difference between a meeting request and an appointment in Microsoft Outlook. Now a meeting request involves several people and possibly resources like phones and phone lines and maybe rooms or virtual rooms, things like that, and it's really something like coordinated amongst a bunch of people. Now an appointment in Microsoft as it pertains to Microsoft Outlook in the calendar is just a time lap that you set aside for yourself. It only involves you and there's no resource allocation or anything it's just basically marks your calendar as you're not there or not available for that time. So if you went in, into Microsoft Outlook in your calendar. If you go right here say you had a doctor's appointment. You can just type it in right there, Dr. Appt. and there you go. You have a Dr. Appt. and it's telling me right now that I'm really late cause that was 2 o'clock today but anyway and that's it the meeting, the appointment is automatically accepted and it's just there. Now if you want to do a meeting request you could take this, double click, open it up, and then you can invite people to it. Once you invite people to it then it becomes a meeting request and it sends out an invitation to the other people that they have to, they don't have to but they can accept or reject or accept it provisionally, things like that, and then you can set up rooms and things like that so a meeting request is much more involved because it involves more people and more resources whereas an appointment involves just you and it just blocks out some time in your calendar.
