- One of the most obvious differences between the Firebird and Mustang is the way they look. The Firebird, being the more modern-looking car, has a somewhat sleeker, less bulky appearance. This also gives the car a slight speed advantage, but only if the cars have the same horsepower.
- Another difference between the Firebird and Mustang is that the latter car has many more accouterments available for purchase, to enhance the performance of the vehicle. There are even options to add additional horsepower to the Mustang, which is not available for a Firebird.
- The big factor: cost. Hands down, the Mustang is a more expensive vehicle, both to purchase and repair. However, this can also make it more desirable to collectors, especially if you plan on fixing up a less-than-perfect vehicle to sell it later.
