How to Troubleshoot the Sony CyberShot DSC-W55

    • 1). Clean off the front of the Carl Zeiss lens; the camera must be on for this. If there is a fingerprint, grease or any other smudge on the lens your captured picture is going to appear out of focus.

    • 2). Fully charge the battery of the digital camera. If the battery is about to die some features are going to fail on the camera, including the flash.

    • 3). Eject the memory card from the Sony CyberShot camera. Look on the side of the card at the write protection switch. If this switch is in the down position it means the write protection lock is activated and the camera is not able to record images. Flip the switch back up to begin using the memory card again.

    • 4). Insert a different memory card. If the current card is full you receive an error messaging stating the camera is not able to capture additional images.

    • 5). Press the "Menu" option on the Sony camera and choose "Zoom," then disable the digital zoom. Unlike the optical zoom, which actually moves the lens closer to the subject, the digital zoom just zooms into the pixels of the image, which results in a blurry picture.
