Get Safe on That Bike

Have you just decided to make motocross your sport of choice lately? You're probably just in the process of mastering it.
If you really want to be good at it, though, you'll have to take measures to protect yourself.
How can you keep practicing when you're all injured and unable to even climb that bike? Your body has to be in good condition so you can maneuver it exactly as you need to once you get on that bike.
Injuries may be minor, but they can still be a cause for distraction when you're actually riding.
Make sure then that you are well-protected, especially when you're racing.
The first thing you'd like to be sure of is that you're riding a bike that is just right for your size, weight and expertise.
You must be able to maneuver the machine comfortably to avoid fatigue and loss of control.
Needless to say, your clutch, brakes and gear shifter must be in good condition.
If you are getting on a race, make it a point to inspect the track beforehand to check for obstacles or other problems on the racing surfaces.
This is very important, if you want to spare yourself from serious crashes.
It is true that a motocross rider will always crash at some points, but it's best to minimize these instances so you can stay as far away from injury as possible.
Another important thing you have to be conscious about before getting on that bike is the condition of the bike itself.
Begin with your tires.
Make sure they have good tread and have the right pressure.
There should be no loose parts such as a broken fender which can go flying in the air and landing flat on another racer's face, resulting in a serious crash.
Also look into the nuts and bolts of the bike and make sure everything is tightly fastened.
Everything form the axles to the sprockets to the spokes and the rear suspension linkage must be checked regularly, especially because these things can come loose because of the vibrations when the bike is in use.
The engine of your bike must also be checked and ensured that it's running smoothly.
Make it a point to clean your air filter and change your engine oil regularly.
A good quality gear lube is also a wise investment.
Most of all, make sure you have enough fuel as running out of it on take off can be very dangerous.
Of course, you should never get on that bike without the safety gear you need, such as a helmet, motocross boots, gloves, goggles, etc.
A motorneck brace is definitely of prime importance, considering most fatal motocross accidents have been because of a broken neck.
