How Do I Replace a Terminal Block Kit on a Frigidaire Electric Dryer?

    • 1). Switch the 220-volt breaker switch on the main electric panel feeding power to the dryer to the "Off" position. Remove the dryer power cord from the wall outlet.

    • 2). Slide the end of a putty knife between the dryer lid and the front panel, about an inch from the right corner. Push the blade in to disengage the spring catch holding the top down. Repeat on the left side and fold the top back.

    • 3). Locate the terminal block on the top right corner of the back panel. Draw a sketch showing the position of the six colored wires connected to the terminal block.

    • 4). Remove the three terminal nuts holding the power cord to the terminal block with a nut driver. Lift off the three power cord wires, together with the green wire connected to the dryer chassis, and pull the burned or damaged power cord through the rubber grommet in the back of the machine.

    • 5). Pull the male spade connectors attached to the ends of the two remaining wires out of their female sockets in the side of the terminal block.

    • 6). Undo the two screws holding the terminal block to the back panel with a Phillips screwdriver. Assemble the new terminal block kit as directed on the package. Screw the terminal block onto the back panel with the two screws removed earlier.

    • 7). Insert a new Frigidaire dryer power cord into the machine through the rubber grommet. Undo the three nuts on the new terminal block and connect the new power cord, together with the green ground wire to the terminal block in the same order that you removed them. Tighten the nuts securely with the nut driver.

    • 8). Push the male spade connectors on the end of the two wires removed earlier back into their respective female spade connectors on the side of the terminal block.

    • 9). Lower the dryer lid and push the front corners down until you hear the spring clips snap back into place. Replace the power cord and turn the breaker switch back to the "On" position. Switch the dryer on to ensure that it's working properly.
