- 1). Locate the factory speakers in your vehicle.
- 2). Insert a trim panel tool -- available from most auto parts stores -- into the upholstery and pry it out of the frame to gain access to the speaker assembly.
- 3). Use the Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws on the front of the speaker assembly. Repeat this step with any other speakers in your automobile that you wish to swap out.
- 4). Remove the speaker assembly and unplug the wiring harness from the rear of the assembly.
- 5). Plug the wiring harness into the port at the rear of your three-way speakers. It`s important to verify beforehand that your three-way speakers are compatible with your particular vehicle model. If you can't find this information, you can cut the wiring of the stock speakers, strip the wiring sheath with your wire cutters and twist the ends of the vehicle wiring to the wiring at the rear of the speaker and wrap the opening in electrical tape to form a connection.
- 6). Fit the three-way speaker in your vehicle. If it is too small for the speaker compartment, you can fit cardboard or other semi-sturdy material in the gaps before replacing the upholstery. If it is too large, you can fit the speaker between wood panels that will support the speaker over the compartment.
- 7). Replace the upholstery.
