Do you realize that the hardest working muscle in the body is your heart? It pumps blood, oxygen and nutrients to all the body's organs.
A healthy heart improves your chances dramatically to live longer and avoid the consequences of heart disease.
A healthy heart is essential for a healthy body.
You only have one - make sure you look after it! Eating animal-based foods impairs the heart's ability to function correctly.
Meat and dairy products are high in cholesterol and saturated fat.
As these fatty substances build up inside the arteries, blood flow to all the areas of the body is impeded.
When too little blood reaches various organs of the body, normal immune systems are impaired, setting people up for a number of chronic diseases, notably heart disease.
Most heart disease is diet related - caused by animal products.
Heart disease is the number one health problem in the United States to-day and according to the American Heart Association, the single leading cause of death.
Mortality rates for heart disease are higher than those of all forms of cancer combined, and more than 700,000 people die from the disease every year.
Obesity is a killer! Not only does it lead to heart disease but it also increases the risk of Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Osteoporosis, Hypertension, Stroke and some forms of Cancer.
Abdominal obesity greatly increases the risk of ill-health and early death.
Experts have concluded that men with a waist measurement over 40 inches(102cm) and women with a waist measurement over 35 inches (88cm) are a high health risk.
You may find it difficult to totally eliminate animal products initially.
It will be a gradual process.
Here are some hints however, to reduce your fat intake:- * Use minimal amounts of fats, oils and dressings.
Choose reduced fat or 'light' margarine spreads.
Limit mayonnaise, and oil dressings.
Choose low-fat or fat-free dressings.
* Choose low-fat and non-fat milks, low-fat soy milk drinks and yogurts.
Choose fat-reduced cheeses, cottage, ricotta and low-fat ice creams.
* Avoid fatty sausages, ham, bacon, salami.
Choose low-fat varieties.
* Avoid fried fish in batter.
Choose grilled or baked fish or canned fish in water pack.
* Choose lean cuts of meat with little marbling and chicken breast.
* Avoid high-fat desserts such as fruit pies, pastries, cheesecake etc.
Choose low-fat ice cream, yogurt and low fat jelly.
To enjoy a prolonged and fulfilled life you must find the motivation to make some changes to your eating and exercise habits in order to keep your heart healthy.
Your life depends on it!
