- 1). Clean your locket thoroughly with water and dish soap to remove any oils or dirt. In order to give the locket a tarnished, aged look, cut the hard-boiled egg in half and place both halves and the locket in a ziplock bag for a day. Once the locket reaches the level of tarnish desired, remove it from the bag and rinse it with water.
- 2). Select a photo for the interior of the locket. For a truly vintage look, choose a black-and-white or sepia-toned image. Open the locket, place one side facedown over the photo, and trace around it to create a guide for cutting out the image.
- 3). Cut out your photo and center it inside the locket, trimming down the edges further if necessary. Once the photo is the correct size, squeeze a few drops of super glue onto the back and press it down into the locket to secure it. When the glue is dry, string the locket onto a chain or ribbon.
