- The Canon L120 is a combination fax machine and printer. It prints in only black using a laser toner cartridge. Several different models of toner cartridge are compatible with the Canon L120. These include the Canon FX-9, Canon FX-10 and Canon 104 Black Toner Cartridge, among others. All of these toner cartridges share similar specifications and have similar printing capacity.
- The toner cartridges can be replaced or reused. Toner, unlike ink, is not liquid based. It is a special graphite powder that adheres to paper or other surfaces when it's electrically charged. It is applied to paper through heat and pressure when an electrically charged drum picks up the toner in the form of a pattern, an image or text that is being printed. The L120 uses black toner.
- The Canon FX-9 is a black toner cartridge compatible with the Canon L120 Faxphone. It has a print capacity of up to 2,000 pages at 5 percent coverage per page. The number of pages that you can print varies depending on what type of file you are printing or faxing. FX-9 toner is not for use with an ink-jet printer. This product is no longer manufactured but can still be purchased from various vendors while supplies last.
- The FX-10 cartridge, like the FX-9, has a print capacity of about 2,000 pages at 5 percent coverage. It is intended for use with laser printing technology. This cartridge prints in black and is also compatible with the Canon L120 Faxphone.
- Canon 104 is a black toner cartridge. Like the FX-9 and the FX-10, the Canon 104 has a print capacity of approximately 2,000 pages at 5 percent coverage per page. It is one of several cartridges compatible with the Canon L120 Faxphone. Do not use this toner with an inkjet printer.
