Best TV Series

There are many good TV series airing this year. I know some of my readers may be looking for a show to adopt and others might just be looking to see how highly rated their favorite shows are doing on the list. Before you read my list be aware that this is just my opinion mixed with the critics ratings. The critic ranking is the average ranking a TV series receives from 45 individuals. The show with the lowest rank is ranked number 1 and so on.

Here is my list of the best TV series airing in 2013.

1. Breaking Bad

It is no surprise to many people that Breaking Bad is top of this list. The story is about a chemistry teacher, Walter White who is diagnosed with cancer. With the knowledge that he has nothing to lose White embarks on a life of drugs dealership and crime in order to secure a great future for his wife and his teenage son who was suffering from cerebral palsy.

White becomes very successful in his new career. This series espouses the impact the diagnosis of a terminal disease can have on an average person.

2. Mad Men

Mad Men has being one of the best TV airing shows in recent years. This show is about the lives, struggles and challenges of people in the advertising industry in New York. The protagonist Don Draper’s past soon starts haunting him as it destroys his marriage. It is an impressive TV show that will bring you back the next week. The first few episodes are a bit boring. It has received several nominations and has won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series four times.

3. Homeland

This series follows the story of Carrie Mathison a CIA operation officer. After carrying out unauthorized operations in Iraq Carrie is placed on probation and reassigned to counter terrorism center in Virginia. In her new role she tries to uncover the identity of Nicholas Brody whom she believes is an American Prisoner of War and whom the federal government sees as a hero of war. Carrie approaches her mentor and the two embark on a journey to uncover Brody’s plans.

4. Louie

The only comedy series on this list! The story of this series follows the life of Louie, a stand-up comedian and divorced father of two girls. It shows his daily life as he meets different characters and struggles to find love. Each episode of this Tv series features two stories or a single long one. It has been renewed for a fourth season to begin this year.

5. Girls

This series follows the story of twenty something year old Hannah who is shocked by her parents’ decision to withdraw their financial support. Left to fend for herself Hannah and her friend go through their twenty years making a lot of mistakes. The show has been renewed for a third season. It has received several nominations and won a handful of accolades. The show has been praised for its raw nature, tone and humor.
