Winter is officially here and the extremely cold weather proves that.
Despite our shivering and complaints there are ways to keep warm during these harsh months.
1.
Get a proper winter coat: As children there was a part of most of us that didn't want to listen to our mothers and put on a winter coat.
Somehow this thought has been ingrained in our minds believing that winter coats are unattractive or uncool.
This is very wrong.
There are many gorgeous and stylish coats available.
Make sure that you choose one that's down, goes past your waist and has a hood.
2.
Warm winter boots: Much like the winter coat, people have the idea that winter boots are ugly, but what's ugly are purple feet and frozen toes.
Warm, lined winter boots with grip and rubber soles are the perfect accessory to get you through the winter in comfort.
Own the style and make it yours.
3.
A cosy blanket: Many of us used to walk around as children with our favourite blanky.
A piece of cloth that we could never let go of and smelled of baby.
As we get older the blanky remains of equal importance in our lives, but has perhaps gotten a bit bigger and has fewer ponies on it and more cool prints.
Maybe your blanky now is a souvenir from Bali or an heirloom from your grandmother.
Whatever the style, wrap it around yourself and keep warm.
Bring it to bed, watch TV with it and get cosy.
4.
The big grandfather sweater: You know the one.
It's oversized, not particularly sexy, probably cost too much money at the time, but now you are so grateful that you bought it because you literally wear it everyday.
You wear it to bed, you wear it over every outfit under your coat, you wear it to do laundry and cook dinner.
It is the perfect piece of clothing for winter.
5.
The fireplace: Okay, this one is a bit harder to buy.
But for those of you fortunate enough to have a fireplace in your house, it's the ultimate thing to have during the winter.
There's nothing quite like curling up in front of the fire with a good book, a cup of Joe, or with someone you love.
6.
A canopy: For those less cold winters, the ones where it cools down a bit at night, and occasionally rains, all you really need is a nice covering to protect your little heads.
Canopies are a great thing to have for your house, your caravan, or really any public area where people might like to sit outside but remain protected.
Winter is here for a while, so bundle up nice.
