- 1). Determine how many stakes are needed. For a small shape, a single stake is sufficient. For larger yard art, such as life-size animals or Santa's sleigh, two or more stakes are necessary.
- 2). Place the yard art on a horizontal surface, face down. Center and place the stainless steel tube on the back so it is aligned with the vertical axis of the shape. For small yard art, use a 3- to 4-foot long tube. For large yard art, use 6- to 7-foot long tubes. Place the tube so one end is near the top of the yard art and the other end is sticking out at least 2 feet from the bottom.
- 3). Place two-hole, 1-inch conduit straps around the tube, on the back of the yard art. Place one conduit strap near the top of the yard art and another near the bottom, so the flanges with the screw holes are flush against the plywood.
- 4). Insert screws through the conduits' screw holes and drive them into the plywood to secure the conduits tightly around the tube using a screwdriver or a drill. Use stainless wood screws of a length slightly shorter than the thickness of the plywood.
- 5). Hammer the yard art into the ground by tapping the top of the stainless steel tube with a mallet. Hammer the stake into the ground until the bottom of the yard art is hovering just above the ground. Allowing space between the ground and the yard art will prevent moisture damage.
