Switch to Safer Household Cleaning Products and Avoid Toxic Elements

Most of the products available in the market for household cleaning purposes are often very much toxic in nature. These products are regularly used by us and they do not even let us know how our health is degrading slowly every time we use them. Such substances can cause serious diseases like asthma, cancer, allergies, auto-immune diseases, etc. Not just our own health is being harmed at present but our children and the generations to come in the future are also being preyed by these toxic substances. They can be so detrimental in nature that they can even disorganize and damage the structure of DNA and genes which can even harm our future generations. Sometimes, due to the effects of the toxic substances present in household cleaning products, deformed babies or offspring with disabilities are born. Almost all sorts of cleaning products used by us like shampoo, washing powders or detergents, floor cleaners, etc contain such toxins. A major ingredient of these products that can cause great damage is formaldehyde.

Even the Environment Protection Agency has marked many of the cleaning products to be hazardous in nature that can degrade the overall health of the environment. Moreover, a shocking revelation made by the agency is that the use of such products can make the environment of your home's interior hundred times more polluted than the exterior of your home. The major reason is that the household cleaning products contain such toxic substances that after their use inside our home the residue of such toxins are left on the floor, walls and even in the air that we breathe. All types of cleaning products such as from window cleaning equipment to bathroom cleaning solvent from detergents to disinfectants contain toxins if they are produced with petrochemicals or synthetic substances.

As an alternative to such petrochemical cleaning products there are bio-degradable house cleaning products available in the market, which are less harmful. However, you must ensure that even the eco-friendly marked products are actually free from toxic elements. You must check the back label of the products you are willing to buy. See that the substances used in these products include only natural or herbal products. For example, if you are buying an eco-friendly disinfectant check that the ingredients of the product are herbal such as plant oil extracts from plants like rosemary, eucalyptus, sage, etc. A similar disinfectant made from synthetic material would contain registered pesticide substances like tricolsan. Similarly, if you are buying window cleaning equipment for your home then you should see that the cleaner should contain environment friendly substances like grain alcohol in place of synthetic materials like 2-butoxyethenol, which is toxic in nature.

Even for the household cleaning products that are marked as eco-friendly may not be actually eco-friendly. Therefore, you need to take care before making such purchases by reading the back label to find out the exact nature of the ingredients present. Moreover, to remain safe you might use homemade cleaning substances from ingredients like white vinegar, baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, etc.
