Gap in Concrete Sidewalk Repair

    • 1). Make the gap wider at the base with a chisel and hammer. This way the filler will be held in place by the surface of the sidewalk.

    • 2). Remove the debris and dirt from the gap with a wire brush.

    • 3). Fill the gap with sand until it is 1/2 inch below the surface.

    • 4). Mix a fortified sand-mix concrete in a bucket with water by following the manufacturer's instructions. Add a concrete fortifier into the concrete and sand mixture according to the manufacturer's recommendations.

    • 5). Fill the gap by applying the mixture over the sand with a trowel. Feather the surface of the gap so it is flush with the rest of the sidewalk. Let dry.
