Australia has always been a fiercely passionate sporting nation, and over the last few months of 2012 some of the most exciting sports action of the year will be upon us.
Local winter sports are approaching the end of their season while northern hemisphere winter sports are just beginning. September onwards is a great time of the year if you are a football (soccer) fan, with the local competition Hyundai A League starting up in October while the English Premier League begins another fantastic season. KFC T20 Big Bash - Starts December 7th
The KFC T20 Big Bash League is back again, as a collection of international stars descend. The KFC Big Bash is one of the most popular T20 competitions on the planet, and attracts the world's best players as well as thousands of live spectators and many more watching at home. Watch former greats like Shane Warne and Matthew Hayden battle it out with up and coming superstars like Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummings.
Hyundai A- League - Starts October 5th
The 2012-13 Hyundai A-League lights up as new club Western Sydney Wanderers enter Australia's premier competition. Sydney FC have also signed veteran superstar Alessandro Del Piero which makes him the most highly paid player in Australian soccer history.
Season 2011-12 was great but 2012-13 promises to be even better.
Rugby Championship
The giants of southern hemisphere rugby do battle in a colossal competition to determine, among other things bragging rights for strongest rugby nation in the world. South American team Argentina is welcomed to the competition for 2012 to add another level of difficulty to an already extremely challenging tournament with heavy weights Australia, South Africa and New Zealand striving to become the SANZAR Rugby Championship winners for 2012.
