- 1). Place your Schwinn bike into an upright position by lowering the kickstand. Locate the two rubber tires of your Schwinn bike. Press down onto the front tire with the palm of your hand. Listen to determine if any air leaks from the inflated tires. Repeat the process with the rear tire of your Schwinn bike.
- 2). Identify any tears or lacerations by examining the surface of the tires. Locate a small circular-shaped tube protruding from the metallic rim of your front tire. Rotate the cap of the tube toward the left to loosen it. Remove the cap to expose the air valve of your tire. Repeat the cap removal process with the remaining bike tire.
- 3). Pull out a small blade from your pocketknife. Insert the tip of the blade into the center of the valve. Press down to release the air from your old or damaged tire. Repeat the deflation process with your second Schwinn tire. Pull the flat tires away from the silver-colored rims.
- 4). Measure the diameter of your circular rims. Purchase a new pair of tires that corresponds to rim size of your Schwinn bike. Remove the tire tubes from your old pair of tires. Insert the tubes into the inner lining of your new replacement tires. Place your tires onto the rims of your Schwinn. Inflate the new tires, using a standard bicycle pump.
- 5). Identify the cushioned seat located in the middle of your Schwinn bike. Examine the seat post, or the tube located under the seat, to find a release lever or a securing bolt. Lift the lever to remove your worn-down Schwinn seat. Loosen the securing bolt with an Allen wrench to release the seat post.
- 6). Insert a replacement Schwinn bike seat into the frame of your bike. Raise or lower the seat to ensure you have a comfortable riding position. Lower the corresponding lever to tighten your new bike seat in place. Utilize an Allen wrench to fasten your new seat if your Schwinn features a securing bolt.
