Here's the truth about concentration.
We all have a certain amount of it, but this doesn't mean that we can't get more of it or improve what we already have.
When most of us think of concentration we think that we need it to study for a test or to be more efficient at work.
While this conclusion is very true, it only touches a mere portion of how concentration actually works in our daily lives.
You see, it's not just for a defined time period but rather a way that we live our lives and how we get things done.
Without it, you wander through your day rather than actually focusing it into something that will take your life to another level, or at least something that will increase the value in your daily life.
It is affected by so many things; sleep, diet, stress, physical activity and more.
Sometimes concentration is improved and increased so easily by small changes such as adding certain vitamins to your diet.
Can you imagine something being so easy? Sometimes however, concentration exercises are needed.
Thankfully, they are easy to do, easily implemented, and easy to monitor the results.
Your concentration is much like a muscle in your body.
You can either work it out or not.
The more you work it, the stronger it becomes.
But as we have all seen, when you don't work a particular muscle it grows weak until it is nearly useless.
The problem with this is that we don't realize just how weak it has become.
Anybody who has woken up one day only to realize that you are out of shape and a shadow of who you used to be physically can relate.
It didn't happen overnight but the realization often does.
When you first start working out on a regular basis to try and re-capture the days of "past glory" you realized just how far you have fallen.
Workouts are difficult because for so long you haven't worked your muscles.
As you work out more it becomes easier and easier until you can eventually find yourself in the best shape of your life.
It is the same way with concentration.
Believe it or not, your brain loves to be worked out.
Its biggest gains are not always from the action that you do to work it out.
For instance, when you were young and were just learning to read you may have enjoyed it and still do it as a hobby or maybe as a profession.
But you don't spend all of your time sitting comfortably next to a peaceful stream on a grassy knoll reading a book.
You do however move through your day with a great deal of precision and aptitude for gathering information quickly and processing that information.
For example, simply driving down the road, you see billboards, street signs, bumper sticker, addresses, and restaurant signs.
This is a far cry from the idea of sitting by the stream and relaxing with a book.
The same holds true for concentration.
When you learn a few simple techniques to concentrate, all areas of your life will grow stronger.
They will all benefit from your ability to concentrate better.
In summary, perhaps you are looking for answers because lately, things have gotten out of focus and the effort to concentrate has become burdensome.
It doesn't have to be like this.
Concentration is an all too often neglected aspect of what and who we are but one of the most powerful attributes that we as human beings can possess.
The other day I read an ancient Chinese proverb that said, "If any man can focus the power of his mind and concentrate on any one thing for one full minute of his day, then that man will rule the world.
" I think they get it..
..
Do you?
