- Released in 2001, the Dell Dimension 4300 is a laptop from technology company Dell Inc., which is known for its lineup of personal computers. Running on the Microsoft Windows ME or XP operating system, the Dimension 4300 is an entry in Dell's then-budget Dimension brand for basic home computing; the company has since replaced it with the Inspiron line. As of September 2010, the Dimension 4300 is no longer in production.
- Each Dell Dimension 4300 has an Intel Pentium 4 microprocessor that has a clock (processing) speed of 1.5, 1.6, 1.7, 1.8, 1.9 or 2 gigahertz (GHz). The front-side bus speed--the rate at which the processor connects with the Intel 845 chipset on the computer's motherboard--is set at 400 megahertz (MHz). Its L1 cache (primary memory bank) has 8 kilobytes (KB), while its L2 cache (secondary memory bank) has 256 KB.
The Dimension 4300's random-access or system memory is pre-installed at 64, 128, 256 or 512 megabytes (MB); the maximum capacity is 512 MB. Also included is 20- or 40 GB of hard drive storage. - With Harman/Kardon HK695 stereo speakers included, the audio hardware of the Dell Dimension 4300 varies, from integrated controllers such as the AD1885 to dedicated sound cards such as a SoundBlaster. The source of video/graphics capabilities is usually an Nvidia GeForce card plugged into the Dimension 4300's Accelerated Graphics Port 4X interface. The computer also includes a CD/RW drive for playing and recording CDs.
- With a weight of 28 lb., the Dell Dimension 4300 measures 16.7 inches in width, 7.1 inches in height and 17.6 inches in length. Its external interfaces consist of serial and parallel connectors; two PS/2 connectors for the keyboard and mouse; four USB ports; and a line-in, microphone and two line-out/headphone jacks.
